A beautiful mid-century home nestled on the hill in the McKennan Park District of Sioux Falls needed a much more intention in a new upgrade than the one it had received in the 80's. I was so thrilled when my client reached out about a kitchen design and wanted to honor the midcentury style of the home! When you first entered the home, you were greeted by a wall closing off the kitchen. It was important to keep the kitchen somewhat closed off while opening it somehow so I designed a floor plan that included opening up the wall and have a grand focal point. Beautiful stools and a stainless hood flanked between two windows!
The sink in the island allows for conversation, making a mundane chose more enjoyable. I designed space behind the wall for dishes to drain so they aren't seen from the front door. Plenty of drawers allow for easy access to pots, pans, containers, dishes and anything you can think of!
The old space had an unused door leading to another room and by closing that off, we gained about six feet of additional space for cabinetry and work surface. This allowed space for a espresso machine as well as a kegerator.
I had so much fun getting creative and styling this shoot with authentic midcentury pieces and props from local businesses!
